Beijing panda bites third tourist

A panda at the Beijing zoo has bitten a tourist for the third time in two years, causing leg injuries.

Gu Gu the panda had to have his jaws forced open to free the man, who had jumped in to retrieve his son's toy.
Gu Gu first bit a man in 2007, when a drunken tourist jumped into his pen and tried to hug him, then bit the panda in the back in retaliation.
Gu Gu later bit a teenager who had let curiosity about the panda's pen put him in harm's way.
The latest incident saw the 110kg (240lb) Gu Gu maul the legs of Zhang Jiao.
"The panda bit into the man's right leg, and when he was done with that, he bit the left leg," the Beijing Morning Post reported.
The panda refused to let go until zookeepers pried his jaws open with tools, said a zoo spokeswoman surnamed Gong.
Mr Zhang Jiao of central Anhui province suffered damage to major ligaments and is recovering from surgery.
He may also face criminal charges for entering the panda pen.
Pandas, a national symbol of China, are mythologised as cute and cuddly but can often be violent.
Scientists believe fewer than 2,000 giant pandas live in the wild in China.
From: BBC News
My responce: Poor pandas. I feel a shame for the people who were bitten by the panda. It's all because of people's greed. All animals belong in the wild. It's ovious that animals will get scared living in side a case, seeing people all the times... I strongly agree that man who was bitten by the panda should go to jail. I also wish that zoo was gone.

Lost wallet found after 55 years

A wallet misplaced during a romantic embrace has been returned to its forgetful owner after 55 years.

Two classic car collectors from the US state of Idaho found the wallet after it fell out of the back of a vintage car they were planning to restore.
After an internet search they found and contacted the owner, Glenn Goodlove.
Mr Goodlove said he probably lost the wallet in the back seat of his 1946 Hudson car while kissing a girl when he was home on leave from the US Navy.
"If it was in my sailor-mentality years, I might have attempted to, as they said in those years, 'make out,"' Mr Goodlove told the Idaho Twin Falls Times-News.

Vital clues
Jon Beck, 61, and Chuck Merrill, 72, bought the now-vintage vehicle in Idaho after placing an ad in a local newspaper to buy a classic car in need of restoration.
Since 1952, the car had travelled from Washington state, where Mr Goodlove's grandfather owned it, to finish up neglected in Idaho, changing hands several times en route.
Driving the car home after buying it, the collectors stopped at a restaurant and saw something had dislodged below the back seat.
"Like a couple of kids, we thought we had a goldmine," Mr Beck said.

Instead, they found some small change - the leather wallet held a $10 bill, Mr Goodlove's military ID, his Social Security card, his driver's licence and several jewellery receipts from 1952. But they were all in the name of Glenn Putnam.
After searching online, Mr Beck discovered that Mr Putnam had since changed his name to Glenn Goodlove and moved to San Diego, California.
He called Mr Goodlove, asking to speak to a man who used to drive a '46 Hudson.
"There was a silence for about 15 seconds," Mr Beck told the Twin Falls Times-News. "Then he said, 'Who is this?"'
Mr Goodlove, now 75, says he did not even remember losing the wallet, but the find has brought memories of his youth in Everett, Washington, flooding back.
"I could see the house and the car and the town and all the good stuff from living there," he said. "They've been flowing ever since he talked to me."
Mr Beck and Mr Merrill will post the wallet back to Mr Goodlove.

My responce: WOW! this artical was both funny and interesting. Lucky that it only had $10 in the wallet. If the wallet was full of money, it might no have returned to it's owner. Lucky Mr. Goodlove that he found something that he lost. Some peole never find things that they've lost.

Ink clue over 'purple' squirrel
Pupils and staff at a Hampshire school have been baffled over sightings of a purple-coloured squirrel.
The animal, named Pete the Purple Squirrel, has been spotted around Meoncross School's roof in Stubbington.
Animal experts were initially at a loss as to explain the animal's colour as squirrels are usually grey or red.
But the squirrel has been seen nipping in and out of a building where old computer cartridges are stored - and the ink seems to have rubbed off.
Wildlife expert Chris Packham said: "I'm wondering whether one of the cartridges has, one of two things, either leaked into some water into which the squirrel has bathed or fallen, which seems the least likely."
He said that squirrels were so curious they would chew anything.
"I know it sounds absurd but there is no reason why it wouldn't have chewed up an old printer cartridge, perhaps got this on to its paw or its mouth and groomed it into its fur."

From: BBC News

My responce: I think that this artical is interesting. I was very crurious about how the color of the squirrel could be purple. I think the squirrel fell in to ink mixed with water and got dyed. But who knows? It might be a rare animal that has natural purple fur.

There seems no question but that the telephones is on the way out. Nowadays many people have cell phones. Telephones are too inconvenient compare to cell phones, which is bulky and is a uni-purpose. Also the it is installed in one place where you can call in limitted areas. Before, it was impossible to carry telephones. Now, people use cell phones which has lots of features like texting, camera, listing to musuc, games, internet...etc. Also they aare portable and hand. Also, you can call people nearly eveywhere. Cell phones are definitely getting popular these days, and telephones are on their way out.

Bad ad #3

This is a bad ad because it uses a model that is pregnant. Even though this beer is not alcoholic, it might cause some serious problems on the babies.. In addition, it’s only a claim that it is safe for pregnant women to consume non alcohol drinks. Plus, they don’t have any proof like statistics to support their claim that this beer is safe for pregnant women. Also they could have used other models and use drunkometer to prove that the beer has "no alcahol."

Bad ad #2

BAD AD #1

This ad is a bad advertisement about BMW. The first that catches our eyes is the nearly half naked woman with blond, curly hair, not the BMW logo. Also we don't even know what this ad is about just by looking at it. Furthermore, it says " I know your not the fiirst." People wouldn't get what that means. Even though the woman isn't the main thing about the ad, it seems like that the woman is the main text.

Letter to Mr. Kristoff

Dear Mr. Kristoff

I didn’t really like your article “Obama and the War on Brains.” You have written a lot of negative aspects of the past presidents of the United States. Also you mentioned that that most of the Americans by saying most of them believe in flying saucers and evolution. You can’t prove that that one fifth of Americans believe that the sun orbits around the Earth. Where your data come from? Furthermore, you criticize the past presidents to make Mr. Obama stand out from the rest. However, I agree with you that even though the president might be very intellectual, it’s not guaranteed that he will perform well being the leader of the nation. I’m not saying that Mr. Obama is will be ineffective as president, he will be much better than Mr. Bush. I guess… I’m also hopeful that his fertile mind will set a tone for America and do something about the greatest economic problem which is happening right now.

Pain

There are two kinds of pain which we can feel. The first one is the physical pain which is a pain you get physically like getting a cut, mostly related to blood. The other pain is emotional, mental pain. Which is a pain you get in side your mind. For a example, lying could be one and divorce. Accorfing to the "Oxford" dictionary it means a strongly unpleasant bodily sensation such as is caused by illness or injury, or mental suffering or distress. For me I think physical pain is better than mental pain. The reason is because physical pain can go away. However mental pain could be forever and some people can get melancholia and this could leed people to death. So I think I would perfer physical pain than mental pain.

Tolerance

In any fields of endeavor, either in government or in private sectors ,tolerance is extremely important. Tolerance is the ability of an individual to accept diverse views of someone, be it spiritual or political matters, and even something that is extremely disagreeable.Hence, tolerance just like patience is one of the virtue. In E.M. Froster’s essay “Tolerance”, he emphasizes the significance of it as the best instrument during wars. He also relates tolerance to love, that love does not work in public affairs, and tolerance is much needed. I agree with Froster’s idea of both love and tolerance. It is very transparent that a tolerant person will learn to love or accept the differing views of others while love is compassionate but not always tolerant. However, each individual has different levels of tolerance. Intolerance is the result if an individual fails to realize and respect the views and judgments of others. Furthermore, intolerance leads to aggression and disorder. Therefore, tolerance does really matter it can unite people together, can ease antagonistic tensions between groups, can stop chaotic situation, and it can make our world a better place to live .
